All this controversial stuff in the news lately... like this gay marriage/prop 8 stuff. Hey, Homosexuals! If its law then its law, just because you dont like it, doesnt mean you keep trying to get your way! This is a democracy and majority rules. Twice now , I think, we have voted on prop 8 and passed it. Get over it. It will not be undone. Yeah, your constitutional rights blah blah blah, you forget its also our right to ammend our Constitution? Im sick and tired of hearing about this, which is why I am repeating myself. You struck out once, twice... and if a third time? Your outta here! The more you whimper and bitch, the more people are going to dislike you. The more people will vote against you. The more people will hate you. And when I make these statements, I mean not only will they hate you more passionately, but more people will begin to dislike you as well. Its already proven in the second polls on prop 8. More people voted for it to stay the second time (not to mention it wasnt legal for very long in the first place). Now, what are you fighting for? The right to give your relationship a 50/50 chance at survival? Because thats the divorce rate these days, 50%. Or do you want the benifits? Awe, what a beautiful cause....money... You want benifits? Lobby for some sort of civil union and dont call it marriage. You will have a better chance at that, assuming that people have forgotten that you wont stop nagging. Because thats how you are pissing people off. You have heard it enough... so i'll put it as plainly as possible. Man + Woman = Marriage! Whoopie! Not 2 men or 2 women! Now on a tangent...I'm completely against homosexuality, Person + child = bad... (Pedophile)Person + animal = bad...(beasiality) Person + dead person = bad...(necrophelia) Person + someone who doesnt want it = bad... (rape). Not only are these bad, these people go to fucking jail or get put on some kind of medication or therapy to fix thier heads. Person + same sex person = naw thats cool... Its natural... they arent hurting anyone...Hah! BullshitX2. Its not natural, sure animals do it, but then again, that damaged waste of DNA doesnt reproduce and it dies off. Its called... (drum roll)... Natural selection! Ever heard of it? But despite what nature intends, they survive. Thanks mostly to womens gay bestfriends/shopping pals (which they defend ferociously! Let me tell you!), mens obssesions with lesbians( they are lesbians you dumbasses, they dont like you or your sex organs! What you see are straight girls who just want attention and you probably dont stand a chance in hell convincing them both to join you in bed. Like you would have the sexual prowess to please them both anyways...) and things like artificial insemination and adoption. And this crap about them not hurting anyone. You must have heard the commercials on the radio or saw them, they want this taught in school, to teach kids its ok. Look, We have rapists and sexual deviants because those criminals were exposed to something fucked up in thier childhood. Now, with that in mind, we want to teach homosexuality is okay in grade school or earlier? Imagine the impications on society. I cant even begin. But besides my theories and hatred, I am not trying to stop you from having some sort of legal union. Go for it, its not important or significant in anyway. But you guys and girls probably screwed the pooch on thats one...(thats illegal too). I mean CHRIST!!! (Ugh...here I go again...)You have a problem and you want to make it okay!? Look, whats the purpose of life? Take a second... There you go... Got it? WRONG!! Its not happiness. Its to reproduce, two homosexuals can not, and will never be able to reproduce. In my opinion... thats the only good thing about them. BUT! Besides all this ranting. The focus is this: Knock off the petty bitching and live your lives, they are good still, stop pestering busy and important people with your marriage bullshit! (do you see people trying to make speeding legal because they dont like tickets?) and honestly... Just shut up and go back in the closet, try it, your life will be so much easier...
And on a different note, I look at this from an intelligent point of view, a natural point of view. Im not some retarded red neck hatemonger accusing fags of sucking up the white mans air. (Im mexican) And i'm not being a religious zealot proclaiming that all fags are going to hell because god hates them. (I'm not religious). So. Thank you. =]

Lost for words...
I am somewhat relieved, and somewhat disappointed that this weekend was without anything worth mention. I hung out with my best friend on Saturday morning. We did our normal thing, played some COD4, got fast food, and exchanged funny jokes and videos, all at the same time from about 9am to 1pm. then he heads out and I talk to my girlfriend for a bit. later that day i went and saw a friend, picked up my brother and went home. my mom, brother and i played a few games of Yahtzee, I won both times. And today doesn't seem to be shaping out to be much more than monotonous. I woke up at 7am to drop my brother of at his place because he had to lay some sod, I went back to sleep until about noon when I text my friend Grilliam and my gf for about another hour and a half in bed. I got out of bed at about 1:30 and took a shower. at about 2:30 I started this. And unless I am a clairvoyant, I have nothing else to talk about, so... wish me luck that the rest of today will be productive or exciting. at the very least safe lol. Good day.

Pseudo Maturity and the Teenage Drama
So this weekend was pretty much a nightmare for me. The usual couple problems hit and were blown out of proportion. Everyone should know what I am talking about. I do not do this often, or even rarely. I have, for my whole life, prided myself on being a very mature individual. I grew up seldom with friends my own age (outside of school). I was surrounded by adults and assimilated to their culture, even when I was only as tall as their hips. I learned to problem solve and to talk things out, to always understand that there is never one point of view. But… relationships complicate everything… (sigh). Before I cause myself any trouble, I am not saying relationships are not worth their hassles. Of course they are. I am not going to list the pros of being in a real relationship, that would take to long. I am going to stick to this weekend. Anyways, some disagreements… some inconsiderate actions… slight events that tumble from insignificant grains of sand to mountainous meteoroids that destroy weekends. BUT! Miraculously! These problems are solved within days or hours in the usual teenager fashion….hours or days of silence. I find it annoying, but when I am participating in one of these battles… well… it all makes sense. WRONG! It does not. That brings along my Title, pseudo maturity. All the time I thought I was grown up, was I not? Am I regressing? Was I unique or is this normal? Nonetheless, I do not like these skirmishes. Adulthood is so damn complicating… I do not see how you do it. I feel like as I am growing older I am loosing my sense of rationality. But, again, I would not relinquish my relationship for anything, I am just complaining to take up time and space and thoughtfully pat on a few keys. So, as I am ending my dramatic little monologue, I want to leave asking the question: is this normal? And is it grown out of?

American Facade

The American Façade
I live in tract housing, it seems nice. Close to stores, close to entertainment, there is a mall, fast food, movie rental establishments, it is more or less safe and seems perfect. Besides what it appears to be, it is far from perfect. We have been conditioned to believe that suburbia is the American Dream. Suburbia is not, it is the Anti-dream, and I will explain why. If we eliminate our bias and remove our blindfolds, we can see that our young aspirations have been crushed by the counterfeit dream.
In the beginning days of our class, we were assigned a free write about how we envisioned our dream houses. Some of the houses were by the warm sunny beach, or in the mountains surrounded by lush trees and plants. Most of the houses were two stories, spacious, had pools, with large yards and rooms, and plenty of luxuries. They were pretty much mansions. I dream to live in a large single story house with a large pool and a huge yard, far from neighbors and calm. Now, I did an image search of “suburbia.” Guess what I found. The exact opposite, pictures of cramped, crowded little clones with tiny yards and nearly no luxuries. I stated in an earlier assignment hat I could probably hear my neighbors fart because the houses are so close to each other. Barely any of these cubicles were two stories, and at best, they could be described as boring, dull, and monotonous. Honestly, these places look like the neighborhood from Edward Scissor Hands by Tim Burton, and we know that is not a complement. During a speech entitled The Tragedy of Suburbia, criticizing the conditions of suburbia nowadays, James Howard Kuntsler described it with words such as, “dismal”, “despotic”, and “insidious”. Kunstler even went as far as the say that what we see in these areas is “visible atrophy,” and that we are degrading the public realm, and in turn, degrading the quality of civil life and character (Kunstler). James Howard Kunstler is an author, social critic, and public speaker. He graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport. It would seem that Kunstler agrees with my point. Suburbia is a virus and it is spreading, dissolving the American Dream and corroding the value of the U.S. (Kunstler). Obviously, this suburbia conflicts with our desires and hopes, because, besides the student’s descriptions of their dream homes, a picture search of “dream house” returned the exact same images of beautiful homes. If this is what we so clearly want, how does it change? In addition, why do we settle for suburbia?
What turns tract housing into a cozy little dream? I do not understand how we are conned into lowering our standards so dramatically. Maybe it is because all of our commodities are within close range and we do not have to travel far for anything, so we settle and forget our old desires. Grocery stores, movie theatres, fast food joints, and other popular places are easily accessible. Nevertheless, is this really an acceptable trade off for our dream? I do not think so. An unsettling reason could be that while we are young, we do not understand the difficulty of obtaining something so valuable. Middle and lower class citizens have to break their backs and struggle to feel their dreams, while the upper class is born with their foot in the door. By the time we can realize that we are not happy, it is to late to start over. Every human being has the ability for greatness, but few have an opportunity to make it easier and even fewer take advantage of the opening. In a sense, the “American Dream” is called so because it only happens in our sleep. But this does not mean that our hopes are lost.
Suburbia has become a part of the American dream and diminished its value, we hope to live in mansions in live in the lap of luxury, but somehow we settle for monotonous little units called houses. Everything is tough today, whether it be finding a house, job, staying in school or just getting into school. At this moment in time, my peers and I are at a transitional point. Right now, we are creating our futures and in that, determining what we will settle for and what our dreams really consist of. We must not lose sight of our fantasies because they can compel us forward. People must raise their standards, improve themselves, and upgrade their conditions to reawaken their lost American dreams.

Location, location, location!!!
It is apparent that location is a major element of this class and you cannot help but think it is also a major component of life. Our locations in time and space define every aspect of our lives. You may have a great tan because you live on the sunny coast, or you may have creamy porcelain skin because you live in cloudy Oregon. Where you live will most definitely contribute to your status in the social hierarchy for example: a kid from a wealthy neighborhood versus a kid from a poor crime and poverty-ridden project. Who is in a higher class? So who has a better shot at a legitimate life? Your location affects how trustworthy you are to society as well. Who would trust a person in the slums walking around a gas station asking for gas money? Your first suspicion is that this person will by drugs or alcohol. Where we come from most certainly influences what opportunities are easily available to you, such as schools, and jobs. Education is paramount to any person’s success, and missing this key building block severely maims the quality of life. However, I think the most profound and unnoticed affect that location has on you is how it quietly and potently molds our personalities and our characteristics. Moreover, if you change the time of these areas by just a few years, the products change dramatically. Now, I am not implying that if you come from a bad neighborhood you are destined to become a dirty insignificant stain on the fabric of society. That is not the case at all. What I am saying is that your image and opportunities are greatly diminished, and your life is toughened. Sometimes, these lowly conditions can even give rise to greatness. Many greats have gone “from rags to riches.” In one way or another, or location molds our lives.

My Gangster Hood.
The houses are crammed and I could probably hear my neighbors fart. Every house is unoform, the same off white color, and layed out in an orderly fashion. Small yards make it cozy looking. A short distance down the street is a small playground with sand, swings, slides and rocking horses. This is where the gangsters play and practice tagging. Once in a while parents will bring thier kids here during daylight hours. Surprisingly its a good nieghborhood, except for the home invasion robbery a month ago, what i'm trying to sasy is that it looks nice. Lots of people can be seen walking thier dogs too. By the way, I live in Moreno Valley up agains the hills. The shrubbery and tree's are placed oddly, there are closely knit area's of tall leafy tree's directly next to green, skinny, long fields of short thick grass, it throws me for a loop when I actually stop to think about it. The entire neighborhood somehow tackles the amazing feat of being organized and scatter-brained at the same time. If I walk further away from home, which I often do, I will come to one of two things: the dirt roads and bare brown hills, or the shopping area with just about every store a person would need or want. The hills can be a fun place to go 4x4ing, if you don't mind running the risk of getting a ticket for trespassing, I have recieved one already. There are many tall rocky inclines to climb, and after it rains, big muddy puddles to romp in. I appreciate the aesthetic value of dried mud on a truck. Go far enough and you find shooting ranges and dumps, none of them legal. This area is very private and quiet, meaning you could get away with just about anything out there. Opposite of the dust and rocks, is the Best Buy, Winco, Target, Wal-Mart, tons of fast food, coffe shops, banks, and the mall, all efficiently organized. Boring in my opinion.

Free Writing I.E.
Free writing the I.E.
When I think of the I.E., I think of noisy crowded streets, honking, shouts, screeching tires and the finger. I think of big freeways, traffic jams, speeding tickets, and car accidents. I think of orange smog, asthma, wet trashy gutters and recycling beer cans. I think of downtown riverside and the luxurious Mission Inn, my schools, and how many people live here. The people here are fast and business oriented, in the sense that they are after their best interests. I think of the brown mountains, tall palm trees, always present helicopters, R.P.D., guns, and black and whites. I think of my friends and my family, gangs, the homeless, their tattered rags, the wealthy, and their expensive suits. I think of how the weather changes, how it rains warm with the sun still shining, how its snows, big earthquakes, high winds, raging fires, and how it can be so boring and how it can be so exciting. I think of how diverse the Inland Empire is, but most of all I think of home.
